TERRIER CENTRAL's
Working Certificates

I have decided to offer working certificates for those that are interested. First off, what makes me so special that I can offer these? Nothing, I'm just a fan of working terriers. Secondly, in no way does this "make" or "break" a terrier, just give it a little recognition. These are for those of you that are dedicated to "working" terriers, not for those that are here today and gone tomorrow. They are available to any "terrier", whether pure or crossed and dachshunds. I will be offering 2 types of certificates, a Working Certificate and a Strong Dog Certificate, which I will explain below.

Working Certificate

Definition:

This certificate is primarily for the softer dogs that perform "locating" in either above or below ground work, or both. Due to the fact that "quarry" is a regional issue, I won't go as far as separating above and below ground work, but lump it into one. In addition, there are 2 levels, Apprentice and Journeyman. For the welfare of the dogs, I will only recognize 2 hunts per week.

Requirements:

Apprentice Level is earned by a dog "actively" participating in 50 different hunts, with verification by 1 "witness" (in addition to the dog's owner/handler) to each hunt, and a total of 4 different "witnesses" at time of application.

Journeyman Level is earned by a dog "actively" participating in 100 different hunts, with verification by 1 "witness" (in addition to the dog's owner/handler) to each hunt, and a total of 4 different "witnesses" at time of application.

Strong Dog Certificate

Definition:

This certificate is primarily for the hardest of dogs that perform "drawing". Due to the fact that "quarry" is a regional issue, I won't go as far as separating above and below ground work, but lump it into one. In addition, there are 2 levels, Apprentice and Journeyman. For the welfare of the dogs, I will only recognize 2 hunts per week.

Requirements:

Apprentice Level is earned by a dog "actively" participating in 50 different hunts where "drawing" occurs, with verification by 1 "witness" (in addition to the dog's owner/handler) to each hunt, and a total of 4 different "witnesses" at time of application.

Journeyman Level is earned by a dog "actively" participating in 100 different hunts where "drawing" occurs, with verification by 1 "witness" (in addition to the dog's owner/handler) to each hunt, and a total of 4 different "witnesses" at time of application.

Quarry Tags

Quarry Tags are a nice addition to the 2 Certificates. They are earned by "successfully" catching 100 Ground Hog, Fox, or whatever you hunt. There is no limit to quantity taken per hunt or tags you can have, if your dog has caught 100 Fox, 100 Coon and 100 Badger, then it can have a Quarry Tag for each. As with the requirements for certificates, 1 "witness" is needed to verify the quantities.

To apply:

Send a brief description of the hunt, along with the names of the "witnesses", to me at the address below. Simple.

**One final note, these certifications and tags are based wholly on honesty. If it is learned that the information was fabricated, the certificate will be made invalid, not just for the dog in question, but for all dogs owned by this individual**
